New York State Military Forces Honor Guard

The New York State Division of Military and Naval Affairs provides a Military Forces Honor Guard to conduct appropriate military honors for deceased military veterans.

The mission of the Honor Guard is to:

  • Provide New York State military veterans with appropriate honors at interment.
  • Assist and instruct veterans service organizations in performing appropriate burial ceremonies.
Full Honors provided to recipients of the Medal of Honor and those who die while on Active Duty:
  • Pall Bearers
  • Playing of Taps
  • Firing Party
  • Flag Folding
  • Color Team
  • Flag presentation to Next of Kin
Honors provided all veterans with an Honorable Discharge:
  • Playing of Taps
  • Flag Folding
  • Flag Presentation to Next of Kin
Needed Documentation:
  • DD214 for Active Duty or Reservists
  • NGB 22 for National Guardsmen

If for any reason you cannot get in contact with any of the above numbers, call the Army & National Guard, and they will perform the service. The Military Forces Honor Guard is provided, subject to availability, at no cost to the family.
