THE PROMISE OF 2007

by Sidney Siller Sr., PDC, Department Adjutant

What a surprising start to 2007 - with our eastern weather pattern at an all century high mark - with our football teams eliminated - and our national politics in "gestation." So, where do we stand in this heated and eccentric position as Disabled American Veterans.

The low stature of our teams and their leadership failures are really guidelines for us to follow. True teamwork involves a myriad of elements, the most important of which are dedication, loyalty to a mission, and the honest principle to serve others.

It is my belief that due to the close competition within the Congress, this may be an opportune time to practice the policy on Congress that they have long practiced on the veterans of this country. That is, divide us by generational wars; branch of service; and of course, by time of service.

We are fortunate in our Disabled American Veteran's that we have a principled mission, a mission that has set a high standard for service; compassion; and morality for our patriotic comrades and their family. The strength of our organization in these critical times is our dedication to our mission. It is important to use those weapons in our quivers to galvanize the folk's in Congress that we still maintain the high road to secure our necessary legislative agenda. Let us use this highly sensitive times in the legislative halls of Congress to achieve our mission.

So, to all of our members, supporters, and friends once again a Happy and Healthy New Year, and let the anti-veterans advocates know the value of our effort and feel the impact of our zeal!
